Retail Sales Manager

Retail Sales Manager- 15 days on 15 days off!

How much traveling is involved?
This position is a 15 day on 15 day off schedule.

What is an average day like as a Retail Sales Manager?
You arrive at your sales locations approximately 9 am each morning. At 9am you and the crew are setting up the tool display and placing signs directing your customers to the sale. Setting up the tool display can take anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours. Everybody must help unload the truck. The sale starts at 11 am and ends at 7pm. During business hours one of your Crew Members is working the cash register, most likely you will be on the floor assisting customers with any questions, and two Crew Members on the trailer handing merchandise to the customers that they just purchased. When you get a replenishing truck your crew is responsible for unloading the inventory from the replenishing trailer to your trailer in a timely manner. At 7 pm you and the crew tear down the display and load it back on the tractor trailer. Every member of the crew must help in safely and efficiently loading the truck. After the display is loaded you and the crew will move on to your next sales location which could be anywhere from 20-100 miles apart. Once you drop the trailer off at the next sales location you and the crew go to the hotel and rest up for the next day.

What is the compensation for a Retail Sales Manager?
Express Sales Managers: Express Sales Managers are exempt commission only outside sales employees. As such these managers receive a draw against commission equal to $140.00/scheduled sale day worked as an Express Sales Manager. This draw against commission is paid on the 15th and last day of each month for the days worked during the respective pay period for each pay date (25th - 8th of each month to be paid on the 15th of the month; and 9th - 24th of each month to be paid on the last day of the month.) This draw is deducted from an Express Sales Manager's actual commission earnings which are calculated and paid as follows: 1st - 15th of each month's commissions are to be paid on the last day of that month; 16th - last day of each month's commissions are to be paid on the 15th of the following month. Fines for turning sales receipt envelopes that are short cash; and/or late envelope fines; and/or inventory shortage fines will be deducted from the Express Sales Manager's net commission (after draw against commission is deducted from the raw commission based opon net profits of the sales runs). If there is no net commission (because either there was no net profit for the sales run; or because the raw commission is less than the Express Sales Manager's draw against commission for that sales run); the amount of the cash shortage; or fines for late envelopes, or fines for inventory shortages will be deducted from the Manager's draw against commission for that pay period.

Managers-in Training: Managers-in-Training are salaried exempt employees. As such, these individuals receive salary in the amount of $120.00/scheduled sale day worked.

How do I and my Crew Member get to the first sales location?

Where is the entire product stored?

How do I get the tractor trailer?
When your 15 days gets ready to start you are going to meet up with a manager out in the field that is going into their 15 days off. That’s when you get handed the keys to the tractor trailer. At that time one of your Crew Members drive your personal vehicle to the first sale which could be anywhere from 20-100 miles away.

Am I working by myself?

What happens if one of my Crew Members walks off the job while we are on the road?
It is your responsibility to retain your crew throughout the entirety of your run. However, our Recruiting department is constantly hiring back up crew just in case that does happen. It may take a couple of days to get a replacement out to you and its usually best to keep what you have until the end of the run because the travel expenses for the replacements will be added to the cost of your run. We send them out on a Grey Hound bus to meet with you.

Where do I find Crew Members?
Unemployment offices and word mouth are the best ways to get crew members.

Is there training?
As a manager you will go on two to three training runs before going out with your own crew. During your training runs you want to start interviewing crew members so when you are done with your training run you have a full crew. If you find a crew member that is ready to start ASAP they are able to go out with you on your training runs to train with you.

Where are we setting these shows up at?
The sales locations are usually in rural towns or outlying areas of cities. We set up in VFW, Convention Centers, American Legions, Hotels, Knights of Columbus, Fairgrounds, and Community Centers.
